i live in an east london terrace house that we knew needed a little tlc when we moved in. slowly but surely we are transforming the place and i will share our progress with you as it happens.
first up is the living room, easily the most used room in the house and therefore our number one priority. when we moved in it had lime green curtains, a mustard yellow pleather couch and walls that were white at some point in their history.
since falling in love with this feature on zooey deschanel’s home, i have had my heart set on a blue room. the space is too small to go all-out, but the divine original 1800s fireplace (easily my favourite part of the house) was the perfect place to showcase a blue wall.
our first instinct was to paint the mantelpiece in a high gloss white, but when we sanded it back we swooned over its rustic original state, so left it bare. high gloss fire-proof black on the inside is offset by its vintage-style surround.
the high ceilings have allowed me to indulge my little girls dream of having a chandelier in the very near future (it is en route from its home on ebay). now we’re on the hunt for the perfect rug and coffee table, and the room will be complete.
