now i never say no to a good mojito, so when the invite to the bacardi beginnings party arrived i jumped at the chance to attend. i normally stick to the west side for nights out so i always love any excuse to head to east london. i arrived and felt so very uncool. my cream lace topshop dress was lost in a sea of leather shorts, denim shirts done up to the top buttons, slicked back hair and geek chic glasses a plenty.

the village underground is a great venue, all high ceilings and exposed brickwork, the perfect place to celebrate the drink brand’s 150th anniversary.

upon arrival we made our way to one of two bars to find mixologists concocting all sorts of rum creations, using bacardi of course. each drink was made individually, and while it might have taken a little time, i was left more than happy when i tasted my zesty lemon and frothy-headed tipple.

the drinks ticked all the right boxes, yummy, flowing (not forgetting free) and guests also enjoyed musical treats from the likes of the friendly fires, mylo and joe goddard of hot chip fame.

i particularly enjoyed alunageorge, who are being mentored by the friendly fires as part of the bacardi event, and their track you know you like it, which features ping pong beats and such catchy lyrics that i was attempting to sing along towards the end of the track.

as well as media and fashiony types there were plenty of familiar faces off the telly. nick grimshaw was hosting the party and was joined by fellow t4 presenters jameela jamil and will best who was on great form chatting about his recent first appearance at t4 on the beach.

grimmers didn’t mention anything about his new radio 1 gig taking over from chris moyles, how very cheeky of him! caroline flack, bip ling and pixie geldof were also guests at the far too cool for school shoreditch event.

i attended the party with my pal, pips taylor, who, would you believe it is also a tv presenter too. we came, we drank, we had a bit of a dance and chatted the night away, with cocktails in hand of course.

bacardi certainly know how to put on a party!
