now it appears that i am not very observant at all.
having driven past vauxhall roundabout many times i had failed to noticed the impressive georgian building perched right next to the busy road, incongruous with the towering glass covered flats at st george’s wharf. how silly of me.
brunswick house cafe is a great spot to enjoy brunch, the food is scrumptious and very reasonably priced, while the decor feels like a church slash theatre slash antique storage.
it’s a quirky eatery with mix matched chairs, distressed wooden tables, bunting and dangling chandeliers hanging next to iron hospital lights.
feeling a little worse for wear after the engagement party i ordered the sausage and spinach muffin, which proved a popular choice.
we also ordered a bacon salad….
beef bap…
and mussels, fish flakes and jasmine rice…
the menus change every day so each visit will be different and the venue can be hired out for the day if you are hosting a party.
my only (very small) criticism would be that while we were told we had to order before 2.30pm it took nearly an hour for our food to arrive, even ordering drinks took quite a long time. a male friend whinged that the eatery only does half pints – not full ones – but you could always order two at a time.
aside from the wait, the meal was really tasty and the decor certainly gives you plenty of trinkets and treasures to admire and discuss, should you run out of conversation.
