we love a festival here at pb. we’ve been doing the rounds of most of the london-based shindigs this summer, including field day, hackney weekend, and lovebox, and last weekend saw us decamp along with half the city out to essex to let our hair down at v festival.
dress: kitson, belt: tuchuzy bondi, boots: borrowed off my best friend years ago, forgot to give back (hi sash), daisy chain: claire’s, bag: topshop
i love festival fashion more than any other type. there are so many tribes, from the california hippie, to the neon-holic, the androgynous hipster and rock chick. and given we were in essex, there were a lot of glamazons floating around in bikini tops and not much else. i always go for a laid-back style at festival, and closed-toe shoes, no matter how hot it is. i’ve had too many stomped-on toes in my day.
i kept it simple in a white sundress i picked up in la last summer, tan ankle booties, and a daisy chain in my hair. we turned up this week on the company magazine and what i wore today festival galleries, though the latter made my tan bag a lot fancier than it was – not michael kors, just topshop!
we were lucky enough to be invited in to the louder lounge, the perfect oasis away from the crowds and queues where we could escape to relax, sip the free-flowing complimentary cocktails, sample the street food eats on offer and do some unabashed c-list star gazing in between watching sets by headliners the killers and stone roses, as well as noel gallagher, example, tinie tempah, friendly fires and more.
we partied alongside the one direction boys (is it inappropriate to have a crush?), kelly brook, katherine jenkins, sophie ellis-bextor, james buckley, tulisa, a handful of tv and radio presenters and a whole lot of reality star types. djs spun tunes all day long, there was a rubber ducky-filled ‘pond’ that i made great use of, deck chairs scattered everywhere to lounge/pass out in, and general merriment – not to mention clean, queue-free bathrooms… possibly the most luxurious of facilities at a festival.

in between watching the artists on stage we tucked into delicious meals courtesy of eat street vendors. our favourites were pizza pilgrims and luardos‘ burritos… also on offer were anne mae’s mac’n'cheese, bhangra burgers, meatballs from the bowler and cured meats from the red herring smokehouse. yum. we snacked on delightful cake from charmaine’s cupcakes in the afternoon and cooled down with jolly nice ice creams… guess which flavour we chose?
most exciting, though, was all the pampering going on. if you’re a festival regular you’ll know that after a few hours of dancing in the searing heat/pouring rain, you can look less than your most fabulous. inside the louder lounge enclave we were treated to hair styles at the essensuals hair salon, make-up top ups from mac, and nail art from boom nails. guess eyewear were even handing out free shades, while very.co.uk let us loose in their cupboard to select a new outfit. we were primped and preened and sent back out to undo all the vendors’ hard work on the dance floor again.

we found ourselves ducking back into the louder lounge frequently throughout the weekend. it was our little luxurious haven amid all the rowdiness when we needed some downtime. after doing it in such style, i’m not sure we’ll be able to face doing a festival any other way. we can’t wait for next year!
