smashbox make-up

there is nothing i like more than trying out something new, particularly if it makes me look and feel just that little bit more fabulous.

i was lucky enough to snag an invitation or two to the incredible smashbox studios during my time in lalaland and have been a big fan of the make-up range for a while.

finally the beauty products created for the camera are not just available to us brits online, the range can now be found in good old boots. hoorah.

to celebrate the new partnership the lovely people at smashbox invited me to their on location party at the music rooms. the large red door hanger sealed the deal for me – i was in.

we arrived to a thumping party with lots of gorgeous models milling around while fashion and beauty bods drinking up the party.

i didn’t get very far into the bash – i arrived at the make-up and hair stations and gladly accepted the demonstrations offered. what can i say, i love a good pamper.

not only did i get the chance to sample all of the hottest beauty products from the brand, with the help of an expert make-up artist to boot, but i was also treated to having my hair styled, not once, but twice. first it was teased into an elaborate braided up ‘do before it was heated into glamorous curls tumbling around my soldiers.

if that wasn’t enough, eye-wateringly strong patron cocktails were being served, and going down a treat, while gemma cairney worked her magic on the decks. sadly we missed alunageorge, they were leaving as we arrived which was very disappointing indeed, but i was very quickly distracted with all the beauty treats to behold.

after being pampered we made full use of the photobooth and despite taking inspiration from the iconic smashbox prints on display we proved to be rather inept models. hey ho we found ourselves rather a-muse-ing.

bad puns aside, what you really need to know about smashbox is this – there are several products that will rock you world, so much so they will become firm favourites in your make-up bag. so here’s my rundown….

1) photo finish foundation primer (£25) – this silky smooth formula slides onto your skin and is jam-packed with vitamins a & e, grape seed extract and green tea. the most excellent prep prior to putting one’s face on.

2) o-gloss intuitive lip gloss (£16) – oh.my.goodness. this is amazing. a clear gloss until  rubbed on the lips where it turns your lips your very own custom shade of pink – ah-mazing. you should also check out the o-glow intuitive cheek colour (£21)- same idea, different body part, just as brilliant.
