recently my friends and i were looking forward to cantina at the south bank centre, to help celebrate polly’s birthday.
sadly mid-afternoon on friday came and with it an email informing me the show was cancelled and an alternative plan needed to be hatched quickly.
the birthday girl decided we would stick with a slice of london entertainment – only we would be the ones putting on the show.
after a quick bite to eat we made our way to lucky voice, a karaoke bar in the heart of soho.
with a few glasses of wine to loosen up the vocal chords, the girls proved to be rather eager and wasted no time raiding the dressing up box as soon as we stepped into the private booth.
no amount of jaegerbombs would encourage me to attempt karaoke in a crowded bar, so our private booth was the perfect sanctuary – you can let yourself go surrounded by the people who know you, and who will still love you, even if you murder lady gaga’s born this way. (everyone butchers that song).
we warbled our way through classic tracks from our youth (backstreet boys and the spice girls) through to contemporary modern day hits (one direction and beyonce). it really was a hoot.
