it’s the week before halloween, and i’m in the mood for something a little moody and gothic…
despite returning to high shine a mere fortnight after declaring my new allegiance to matte, i am still enamoured with the silky, sophisticated effect my essie matte about you provides. i promised that i’d be trying different looks with the matte manicure, so here is the latest!
shiny… to matte!
i can’t take credit for the matte black french, i fell in love with it on pinterest months ago, and it was this very look that got me craving a matte top coat back then. it took me a while to get around to trying it, given that i am prone to distraction by things like gelly hi shine red (shiny!) … but now that halloween is days away, i think the timing is perfect for some gothic, jet black talons.
paint on two thin coats of black (i used essie liquorice), allow to dry, and follow with a coat of your matte top coat. ensure you give the entire nail a good covering so there are no shiny spots. once that is dry, take your original polish and paint a thin line across the end to create your french tip. and you’re done!
gorgeous, girls. dark, moody, mysterious… perfect for doing dark deeds on october 31st.
