i got a sneak peek at the range last week at a summer preview event, and chose to have my nails painted in the gorgeous bright red cuzco.
i was lucky enough to bring home the collection with me to test out and this week, i’m into bali, a hot hot hot pink.
the six shades in the collection will keep me feeling bright and cheery all summer, even if the british weather doesn’t cooperate – particularly loving the nautical trinidad blue and jaipur orange.
neon and matte. two nail trends i love individually. together? genius.
i fell hard for matte manicures in autumn (you can see my gushing posts on the subject here and here), loving the silky smooth, understated effect. and last summer, i was all about neon.
today, i was painting on this fabulous shade that nail art sent me, called ‘what colour is coral‘, and mulling over how my current taste for all things bright and punchy couldn’t be farther from the muted tones of six months ago.
and then i thought, why not combine the two? so, on went my essie matte about you top coat.
result? i have a new nail obsession. matte neon manicure – my summer staple.
i don’t know about the rest of you, but i’ve spent the past two weekends gazing in total envy and lust at my instagram feed which was filled with friends and acquaintances having the time of their lives at coachella festival. it looked amazing. to tide over my wanderlust and pure unabashed jealousy, i’ve cheered myself up with this coachella inspired nail art tattoos mani.
nail artsent me over a kit so i could try out the design, which i’ve decided has been inspired by the endless blue skies and birds of california, paired with the disco glam of the festival. i wonder what a glasto-inspired mani would look like… mud and hunter wellies?
to get the same look, paint on two coats of ‘out of the blue‘ polish and allow to dry. i found this polish goes on quite thick, so do make sure you leave plenty of drying time.
next, paint on one coat of ‘party piñata‘ glitter polish on all fingers but your ring finger.
peel off one of the cute little bird stickers from your nail art tattoos pack and position on the accent nail.
finally, apply a clear top coat to seal the deal.
this makes me feel about 0.6% better about missing out on coachella again this year, after swearing last year i would go. but hey, my nails are pretty.
and now i have an entire nail tattoo sticker kit to play with. the cute little anchors in particular are catching my attention!

* p.s. sorry about the few weeks break from tuesday talons – i was giving my nails a little breather from constant coverage. they were running naked, wild and free for almost a whole month! some kind of record for me, i’m sure.
