there are so many delightful things about this time of year – the first of the christmas ads appearing, the lights going up all over town, the ability to start watching ‘elf’ and ‘miracle on 34th street’ whenever you want with no shame… another pre-christmas pro is that anyone, of any age, can adorn themselves in head to toe glitter and get away with it. you can turn up to work on a tuesday morning in sequins, and no one can say a damn thing – they just assume you’ve got some fabulous party that evening.
but there is a fine line between rocking some yuletide twinkle, versus looking like a walking disco ball. it can be done in style. that’s what i love about the new mavala jewel collection. Continue reading

my nails and cuticles have been really cranky the past week – becoming dry and cracked in protest to the suddenly bitterly cold weather. i’m a fiend for slathering on hand cream and apply a drop of cuticle oil a few times a week. but i traded out my usual oil of choice for opi avoplex cuticle oil to go after a receiving a sample in my personalised birchbox.
i wore this manicure to an engagement party over the weekend. such occasions are all about diamonds and champagne (and true love, can’t leave that out) so i wanted something sparkly. i matched my favourite coral nail colour with rose gold glitter to create this pretty late summer look.

the new mavala chilli and spice collection has me all fired up. the colours! so sizzling and summery i could just kiss them.
i got a sneak peek at the range last week at a summer preview event, and chose to have my nails painted in the gorgeous bright red cuzco.
i was lucky enough to bring home the collection with me to test out and this week, i’m into bali, a hot hot hot pink.
the six shades in the collection will keep me feeling bright and cheery all summer, even if the british weather doesn’t cooperate – particularly loving the nautical trinidad blue and jaipur orange.
